Types of Long-term Care Workers¡¯ Task: - Focusing on the Levels of Expertise and Performance -

Abstract
This study identified the level of expertise and performance of each task performed by long-term care workers through their recognition, and categorized the tasks according to their level and analyzing the characteristics of each type.
It also attempted to explore the possibility of task relocation when the career path system are introduced. Data was collected through a questionnaire survey of 230 nursing care workers in Daegu Metropolitan City. The main analysis results are as follows. First, it was found that there was little difference in the level of performance by job content according to the period of employment as a care worker. This means that all nursing care workers at the practice site are performing the same job regardless of their careers. In order to improve professionalism, it was confirmed that such work environment needs to be improved. Second, it was found that the level of expertise and performance for each job content had a negative (-) correlation. Third, as a result of the job classification analysis, the jobs were divided into four groups: jobs with low expertise and performance, jobs with low expertise but high performance, jobs with medium expertise and relatively high performance, and jobs with high expertise but low performance. In conclusion, this study empirically confirmed that there is a point where job assignments are possible between a long-term care workers and a long-term care instructor. Based on this, practical and policy measures were proposed to induce the improvement of professionalism of nursing care workers and securing of high-quality stable manpower.
